We are absolutely delighted to announce we have been awarded Family Business of the Year Award 2016 at the UK Private Business Awards, held last night.
The UK Private Business Awards, sponsored by PwC, celebrates the best in the private sector and highlights the achievements of individuals and companies. The event recognises the importance of private companies to the UK economy and is attended by CEOs and entrepreneurs from every region of the UK.
Harrison Spinks beat stiff competition from across the UK to win the esteemed Family Business of the Year award, sponsored by Rigby Group plc. As a fifth-generation family business, the bed maker was commended for its innovative approach to its industry, while still keeping the family approach at the heart of the company.
The UK Private Business Awards celebrates the best in the private sector, and is held annually at the Brewery in London. Simon Spinks, owner and Managing Director of Harrison Spinks, attended the event to collect our award.
Simon said: “We’re extremely proud of our heritage and while we have more than 600 people working with us, we still like to maintain the family feel within the business. My father, son and me are all active within the company and the industry, so making high quality beds is in our DNA!
“As the most vertically integrated bed manufacturer in the world, our approach has always been a little bit different to others within the sector. From growing natural fillings on our own farm to drawing wire for our patented spring technology, we pride ourselves on making the best night’s sleep possible.”
Established in 1840, Harrison Spinks prides itself on being a fifth-generation family business that today has over 600 people working for us, from farmers who rear our prize winning sheep, to craftsmen who hand side-stitch our mattresses. There are currently three generations of the Spinks family working within the business and we are thrilled to be awarded Family Business of the Year Award 2016.
