Vehicle Mechanic and MOT Tester — The Motorist — Sherburn in Elmet

We are now looking for a full time vehicle mechanic and mot tester to work in our modern workshop to undertake all types of vehicle repairs on modern and classic cars

Working Hours: Monday – Friday. 8am — 4.30pm

The Motorist Garage based in Sherburn-in-Elmet offers garage services for classic cars and modern cars. The highly rated North Yorkshire garage and MOT station offers everything customers need to keep their car running as it should do, with restoration, recommissioning, and repairs on cars.

Key Duties include:

  • Point of contact at The Motorist for all mechanical and vehicle restoration matters.
  • Liaise with external customers and other internal departments
  • Work from and contribute towards vehicle restoration plans
  • Design, build and implement tooling, build and rotation fixtures
  • Producing time and cost estimates for repairs and restoration.
  • Ensure panel quality requirements and checks are carried out as required
  • Highlight and support continuous improvement activities/opportunities for the business and less experienced mechanics
  • Adapting to new technologies and techniques
  • Any other duties deemed necessary

Key Skills & Experience:

As an expert Classic car mechanic, you will have previous experience working within a similar role within the motor/classic car restoration industry and able to carry out mechanical repair/restoration of classic and modern vehicles.

You will have the ability to work independently and manage your own workshop projects, and work to set deadlines whilst ensuring jobs are completed in reasonable time with a strong emphasis on quality and attention to detail.

Experience in Mot Testing, electrical fault finding/repair, engine rebuilding, timing belt/chain replacement, and major mechanical repairs/diagnosis would be advantageous.
