Maintenance Engineer

We currently have a vacancy for a Maintenance Engineer to join our Springs department. This role is a continental shift pattern. 

Main Duties:

  • Machine Fault finding and carrying out machine repairs/improvements.
  • Assist with the installation of machinery.
  • Check work carried out by setters.
  • To carry out routine/preventative and reactive maintenance on all mechanical aspects of the plant in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Respond to plant breakdowns.
  • Accurate reporting of mechanical breakdowns and spares used.
  • Complete spare parts order form and hand to supervision team or the spring’s stores manager.
  • Use of engineering machines to remanufacture parts when necessary.
  • Undertake tasks to further develop the machine/machine parts as and when requested.
  • Basic fabrication skills including small welding tasks.
  • Basic machining skills including lath, milling and drilling tasks.
  • Ensure that all works are carried out to a high standard.
  • Ensure all machinery is fitted with correct safety equipment and the reporting of any health and safety issues.
  • Working with the machine operator/setter to achieve shift targets.
  • Strip and rebuild machine parts.
  • Change drive shafts and bearings / motors.
  • Replace all belts and bearings.
  • Identify ultrasonic faults and repair/change.
  • Engineering small project work.
  • Improve efficiency on machines.
  • Carry out daily/weekly/monthly PM’s, reducing downtime.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings.
  • Input all mechanical repairs carried out onto the electronic engineering log
  • Log all parts out on the electronic Stock Control engineering log
