Experienced Sewing Machine Mechanic

Harrison Spinks currently have a vacancy for an Experienced Sewing Machine Mechanic to join the Maintenance Department

Main Duties:

  • Carry out routine/preventative and reactive maintenance on all mechanical aspects of the plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Respond to plant breakdowns.
  • Accurate reporting of mechanical breakdowns and spares used.
  • Complete spare parts order form and hand to supervision team or the spring’s stores manager.
  • Fabrication skills including small welding tasks.
  • Machining skills including lath, milling, and drilling tasks.
  • Ensure all machinery is fitted with correct safety equipment and the reporting of any health and safety issues.
  • Improve efficiency on machines.
  • Carry out daily/weekly/monthly PM’s, reducing downtime.
  • Responsible for engineering issues (Re-engineering where applicable).
  • Feeding back raw material issues.
  • Machine Fault finding and carrying out machine and equipment repairs/improvements.
  • Training and developing apprentices.
  • Assist with the installation of machinery.
  • Strip and rebuild machine parts
  • Engineering small project work.

Key Skills:

  • City & Guilds trained/qualified engineer.
  • Experienced in pneumatics, use of compressed air, cutting machines and fabrication.
  • Lathe & Milling advantageous.
  • Manual handling.
