Apprentice Headboard Upholsterer

Harrison Spinks have an opportunity for an Apprentice Headboard Upholsterer to join the business.

Once qualified the Headboard Upholster will be able to:

  • Prepare work to be upholstered; frame, tick checking against production ticket
  • Positioning and competently attaching tick using compressed air tools.
  • Visually check finished item to ensure 100% accuracy, right first time.
  • Ensure tasks are completed within set timescales, maintaining quality.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Monitor and record scrap/Yield
  • Discuss complications or assembly line slow downs with Team Leader and come up with solutions for increased productivity
  • Meet the required output demand
  • Make buttons for headboards when required

Additional skills taught throughout the apprenticeship training:

  • Sewing; Produce sewn/seamed components by hand and through the use of machinery
  • Divan Upholstery; Upholster divan bases to exact quality specification and comply with company's high standards
  • Wood machining; Prepare, set up, operate and maintain machinery to produce wood components
  • Laying & cutting fabrics; Prepare and cut fabric and components
  • Frame Making; Prepare and assemble frames using jigs
  • Drawer making; Upholster drawer fronts, prepare and assemble drawers
